IPTV as the Next Generation of Internet TV

I have been calling my parents overseas using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). It is a great way to communicate, as it is using internet as a way to connect the phone communication, and I can say goodbye to huge phone bills. Thanks to my brother who has made me a little bit more “civilised” by introducing this internet telephony.

And now he also introduced me to IPTV (Internet Protocol Television). The same thing as VoIP, IPTV is a digital television whose service is delivered using Internet. IPTV is delivered in live TV or stored video. IPTV services can also be bundled with VoIP and high speed internet services. In contrast with traditional TV, only one program at a time is sent to viewer, based on the viewer's choice. When viewer changes IPTV channel, the provider's server will transmit new stream directly to the viewer. One of the IPTV service provider is Airtel, which is available almost everywhere. The installation itself is very quick, and can be done within 30 minutes to an hour.

In addition, there is BSNL IPTV which installation requires a TV set and BSNL internet connection with broadband connectivity. You should put into notice, that the minimum bandwidth requirement is 4Mbps per channel. BSNL provides its customers with video classes, and online training is also available. Afraid to miss a show? You can set alert messages!
